Pastor Steffie Bartley, Senior Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church and Northeast Regional Director for the National Action Network (NAN), will host Republican nominee for New Jersey Governor Jack Ciattarelli during Sunday services on September 14, 2025. While NAN does not endorse political candidates, it strives to offer a forum where community members can hear directly from contenders about policies that affect Black and Brown communities.

Congregants at New Hope Baptist Church, located at 91 Division Street in Elizabeth, will have the opportunity to hear from Ciattarelli at 3:00 p.m. about his priorities and plans if elected governor. The event aims to provide transparency on where he stands on key issues such as criminal justice reform, economic opportunities, education equity, healthcare access, and other matters particularly relevant to communities of color.

Plans are also underway for the Democratic nominee, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill, to appear in a similar format at New Hope Baptist Church. This would give voters in the congregation a comparable chance to hear Sherrill’s platform directly from her.
